Elise Hyrak is a Canadian writer living in Brooklyn with her spouse and her cat. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Alberta, and is a current MFA candidate at The New School concentrating in Fiction. Elise teaches in the New York City school system and cohosts After Hours, a reading series at KGB Bar.
She has been awarded for writing and teaching in Edmonton and New York. Her work has been featured in carte blanche magazine, Glass Buffalo magazine, the Olive reading series, and in the River City Orchestra’s Unity and Stories Unfolding.
When she's not reading, Elise enjoys cooking and swimming in the sea. She visits her twin sister and nephews in Edmonton often.
